The 2020-2021 Michigan football season will be a difficult one for the Wolverines. The first decision they need to make is who they start at quarterback: Dylan McCaffrey or Joe Milton. Arguably the quarterback position has been holding Michigan back in the Jim Harbaugh era. Last season, Shea Patterson ranked 53rd nationally in pass efficiency. I expect Michigan to go with Dylan McCaffrey because he was the backup to Shea Patterson last year before he got injured. McCaffrey is a big threat running the ball while Milton is more of a threat with his arm. Both quarterbacks are very prone to turnovers which will hurt Michigan especially early in the year.

Here is a video of all the throws the two Michigan quarterbacks threw last year:

Their season opens with a hotly anticipated game against Washington. Both Washington and Michigan are starting a quarterback who has never made a start in college football. Jacob Sirmon will probably start for the Huskies. This game will be very close and the game will be decided by who limits the turnovers. Elijah Molden who is a defensive back for the huskies will be probably covering Nico Collins. Elijah Molden will be one of the best defensive backs in college football with 3 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles last year. Last year Nico Collins had 729 receiving yards with 7 touchdowns. Molden vs Collins will also help decide who comes out on top in this matchup. In a very close game, Washington will win because Sirmon will make big plays on offense and have less turnovers then McCaffrey.

Next up Michigan has Ball State and Arkansas State which will be easy non-conference wins. After they face a home game against Wisconsin. Wisconsin will be looking to replace Jonathan Taylor this year. They have Nakia Watson running the ball for them who is a solid option. They also have their returning Quarterback Jack Coan who threw for 2,727 yards and 18 touchdowns last year. This will be a challenging game for the Wolverines who will not win due to the continued inaccuracy of their starting Quarterback Dylan McCaffrey.

Michigan’s season will not become any easier with a home game against Penn State. If Michigan's season is 2-2 at this point, Michigan's playoffs hopes will probably be over and Harbaugh's seat will be very hot. Also, at this point Joe Milton will take over for Dylan McCaffrey and McCaffrey will be used in a Taysom Hill type role. Penn State will be set on offense with Sean Clifford starting and all five of their offensive linemen with experience playing college ball. The Penn State defense is also very good with Linebacker Micah Parsons leading the way. He had 109 tackles, five sacks, and four forced fumbles in the 2019 season. I expect Penn State to be a top ten team next year. Michigan will lose this game due to their inexperienced quarterbacks and the strength of this Penn State team.

Next up is Michigan State and Minnesota. Michigan should beat Michigan State because Michigan state is replacing Mark Dantonio with Mel Tucker and last season they had a 7-6 record with losses to Illinois and Arizona State. After Michigan State, Michigan faces Minnesota. Minnesota returns starting quarterback Tanner Morgan who was Second Team Big Ten last year and threw for 2,253 yards with 30 touchdowns. While Minnesota lost their best player on defense, Antoine Winfield Jr, they should be well poised to replace him and re-tool their defense. Michigan will still struggle at the quarterback position and I don't believe they will come out of Minnesota with a win.

The next four games should all be wins for Michigan. They have Purdue, Mayland, Rutgers and Indiana. Michigan should win all of these games because of the sheer talent they have on their team. The toughest test will be Indiana. Indiana returns Micael Penix Jr. who threw for 1,394 yards and 10 touchdowns.

On November 28th, 2020, it will be 2,290 days since Michigan has beaten Ohio State and it will continue for at least another year. This might be one of the best teams that Ohio State has ever rolled out. Ohio State has a Heisman candidate quarterback in Justin Fields who threw for 3,273 yards with 41 touchdowns. Ohio State's defense will definitely be solid. Watch out for Shaun Wade who is Ohio State's best Cornerback. Michigan is outclassed by Ohio State. Michigan will be running away from Columbus with their tail between their legs. I believe Michigan will have a 7-5 record next year.

Additional Prediction:

Harbaugh’s time at Michigan will come to an end. He will be fired after the Penn State game or Minnesota game. Harbaugh's career at Michigan will be looked at as a disappointment. He went 0-4 in the only game that mattered (Ohio State) and with a 1-3 bowl record with a win over Florida in the 2016 Citrus Bowl. The question is who will replace Harbaugh?
